"O regresso de Ortov" Theatre by Jaime Rocha

Who is Ortov? A dysfunctional dramatic character, Ortov symbolizes modern man with his fears, dreams, violence and obsessions. Sometimes he imagines that he has committed a crime, others that someone is trying to kill him, sometimes that he will committ suicide. The reality around him is so intense and so absurd that leads his thoughts into disintegration, giving them a kind of madness, a singular look over evil.

About the author: Jaime Rocha (Nazaré, 1949)
He studied at the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon and lived in France in the last years of the dictatorship, until April 1974. In Poetry, published: Beber a Cor; A Pequena Morte/Esse Eterno Canto (diptych with Hélia Correia); A Perfeição das Coisas; Do Extermínio e a Tetralogia da Assombração: Os Que Vão Morrer; Zona de Caça; Lacrimatória e Necrophilia, this last one was awarded the Poetry Awardof the Pen Clube de 2011. At the end of 2012 publishes Mulher Inclinada com Cântaro.

In fiction, published the romances: A Loucura Branca; Tonho e as Almas; Os Dias de Um Excursionista; Anotação do Mal (Prémio Ficção Pen Clube, 2008) e A Rapariga Sem Carne.
In theatre, edited two dozens of plays, compiled in some volumes such as O Jogo da Salamandra and Azzedine e Outras Peças. Was awarded the Grande Prémio APE de Teatro 1998, with O Terceiro Andar, a text included in the volume O Construtor and, in 2000, with the Award Eixo Atlântico de Textos Dramáticos, with Seis Mulheres Sob Escuta. In 2004 receives the Grande Prémio Português de Teatro, with Homem Branco Homem Negro. In 2011 publishes in Coimbra, in colaboration with APEC, Associação Portuguesa de Estudos Clássicos, Agamémnon – A Herança das Sombras e Filoctetes – A Condição do Guerreiro, the two first volumes of the Trilogy Trilogia da Guerra, a revisitation of the Greek myths.  

In theatre, the following plays were taken to the stage: Casa de Pássaros (TEC); Transviriato e O Mal de Ortov (Trigo Limpo Teatro Acert); O Jogo da Salamandra (Comuna/Teatro Público); Seis Mulheres Sob Escuta (Teatro da Trindade); Homens Como Tu (Útero); Homem Branco Homem Negro (Teatro Aberto) e Morcegos (O Bando).
