About the "Ribeira* dos Moinhos"

The "Ribeira* de Angra", also referred to as "Ribeira dos Moinhos" is located in the historic center of the city and county of Angra do Heroísmo on Terceira Island in the Azores.

It had the function of supplying water to the city, as well as draining wastewater to the sea. Therefore, it was a driving force for manufacturing establishments and, historically, the "Ribeira dos Moinhos" played an important part in the settlement and development of the urban core, in terms of economic and social growth. It was disabled in the 1950s, with the installation of sewage systems.
